I was born and raised in a remote village in West Bengal, India. I obtained my B.Sc. (Hons. in Physics) degree from Burdwan Raj College, West Bengal, in 2005. I completed my M.Sc. (in Physics) in 2007 from Visva-Bharati University (Tagore's own place), with a specialization in Astrophysics. I then moved to IUCAA , India, for my doctoral research in observational astronomy under the supervision of Dr. R. Srianand. In 2013, I joined the Pennsylvania State University as a post-doc with Dr. Jane Charlton. Currently, I am at the Leiden University working with Dr. Joop Schaye as a postdoctoral research associate.
