Astronomy is the oldest science. By nature, astronomy is a "discovery science", which has been expanding the horizon of our understanding about the universe we live in. Even a century ago the universe was thought to be a much smaller place with only one galaxy-- the Milky Way. With the advent of ground- and space-based modern telescopes, we now know that there are billions of galaxies in the universe. In fact, galaxies are the "building blocks" of the universe. Astronomy taught us (and will continue to do so) about our place "in the vastness of space and the immensity of time" and, therefore, the "true" meaning of our lives, gifted by the mother nature.
The question that motivates me the most is: How do galaxies form and evolve with time? My research focuses on observational aspects of galaxy formation and evolution. In particular, I am interested in gas flows in and out of galaxies, galaxy groups, and clusters of galaxies.
